Patna Women’s College Celebrates Organic Makar Sankranti with Kite Making Competition

Patna: Patna Women’s College (autonomous), in collaboration with the PWC Alumni Association, Eco Task Force, SRISHTI Environment Club, and Tarumitra, celebrated Organic Makar Sankranti with great enthusiasm on January 13. The highlight of the celebration was a Kite Making Competition, where the college community came together to mark the festive occasion.

The event began with an exhibition of colorful kites, which were later evaluated by a panel of judges, including Geetanjali Choudhary, Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Designing; Dr. Amrita, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics; and Dr. Shazia Hussain, Assistant Professor in the Department of Home Science. Devopriya Dutta, UN Youth Representative from Tarumitra, was also present to witness the celebration.

The programme continued with a symbolic Earth Tax, where participants offered fistfuls of rice, followed by kite flying, led by Principal Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C. Other faculty members also participated in the activity. The celebration concluded with a Khichdi feast for the faculty and staff, which was also distributed among children from ICWA.

The event was coordinated by Meenakshi Mishra, Coordinator of SRISHTI Environment Club, and meticulously supervised by Dr. Ameeta Jaiswal, President of PWC Alumni Association, and Shobha Shrivastava, Vice President of Eco Task Force. The entire event was a joyful and meaningful celebration of tradition and environmental awareness.
