Patna: SAMARTH Social Work Club, in collaboration with the Substance Abuse Prevention Cell of Patna Women’s College, organised a seminar on “Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions: Promoting Health, Social Responsibility & Responsible Citizenship” at the MVEIC Hall in the college’s Science Block.
The seminar focused on tobacco prevention, social responsibility and the role of youth in promoting healthier communities. Students were encouraged to make informed and healthy choices and contribute to efforts to maintain a tobacco-free campus.
EY Consultant Shares Insights
The resource person for the seminar was Surojeet Chandan, Senior Consultant at Ernst & Young (EY). With more than 19 years of professional experience in livelihood, education, community development, skill development and social impact initiatives, Chandan shared insights on tobacco prevention and community-level awareness.
He also highlighted the role young people can play in promoting healthier communities and strengthening social responsibility through sustained awareness and participation.
Focus On Collective Responsibility
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Mridul Mishra, Tobacco Monitor and Nodal Officer of the Substance Abuse Prevention Cell, Patna Women’s College; Coordinator of the SAMARTH Social Work Club; and Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work.
Dr Mishra welcomed the resource person and club members and highlighted the importance of awareness, collective responsibility and sustained efforts in fostering a tobacco-free campus.
The programme was moderated by Anamika, Student President of the SAMARTH Social Work Club.
The seminar concluded with an emphasis on student participation in creating a healthier educational environment. Students were encouraged to become active ambassadors for a tobacco-free campus and a socially responsible society.
