Patna: Patna Women’s College celebrated Shravani Mahotsav 2026 on August 3 with the Shravani Dance Competition at the Open Air Stage Hall. The event showcased cultural performances by students and promoted themes of tradition, creativity and environmental awareness.
The programme began with a welcome ceremony for Dr Sister M Tanisha AC, Principal of Patna Women’s College, and Dr Sister Celine Crasta AC, Vice Principal, marking her first official college event in the new role.
Dr Sister Celine Crasta AC was felicitated with a shawl and a sapling by Dr Sister Jincy AC, Superior, Avila Convent, and Alok John, Dean of National & International Collaborations and Consultancy Services. Students also presented a welcome song to mark the occasion.
Performances Based on Greenery Theme
A total of 12 groups participated in the dance competition, presenting performances based on the theme, “Hariyali Ki Chhata, Khushiyo Ki Ghata.” The performances reflected the significance of the monsoon season through music, dance and traditional expressions.
The competition was judged by Manjula Sushila, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi; Adweetiya Sinha, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science; and Anisha Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of English. According to the organisers, the judges provided feedback and encouragement to the participants throughout the event.
Winners Announced
The Department of Zoology (Code 5) secured the first position in the competition.
The Department of History (Code 1) was awarded the second position, while the third position was shared by the Department of Geography (Code 7) and the B.Ed Department (Code 8).
Student Council and Faculty Coordinate Event
The event was jointly hosted by Aliba Nadeem, Joint General Secretary of the Student Council 2026–27, and Vagisha Variyar, Environment and Discipline Secretary of the Student Council 2026–27. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sonal Kumari, General Secretary of the Student Council 2026–27.
According to the college, the programme was coordinated by Dr Sister Celine Crasta AC, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of History; Enakshi Dey Biswas, Coordinator of Performing Arts; and Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.
The organisers said the event aimed to celebrate cultural traditions while encouraging student participation and creativity, making Shravani Mahotsav 2026 a platform for showcasing artistic talent and community spirit.
