Patna: Students from the Department of Statistics at Patna Women’s College visited the Bihar Vidhan Sabha on July 24, attending the Monsoon Session as part of an academic excursion designed to deepen their understanding of legislative procedures and policy-making.
The day began with a comprehensive orientation by Rakesh Kumar, Section Officer at the Bihar Vidhan Sabha, who explained the significance of the session and the structure of legislative proceedings. Students then observed live debates from the visitors’ gallery, with the session presided over by Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav.

Key discussions during the session centred on the issue of unauthorised voters in Bihar, offering students a rare opportunity to witness the intersection of governance, socio-political issues, and statistical insight.
Following the session, the group toured the Central Hall and Library of the Vidhan Sabha, gaining historical and procedural context to complement their academic studies. Faculty members, led by Dr Moon, Head of the Department of Statistics, facilitated discussions linking parliamentary processes with data-driven policy analysis.
