Patna: The Department of History at Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, organised a speech competition for postgraduate students on the theme “Nationalism and Youth: Understanding Tilak’s Vision”, encouraging participants to reflect on the relevance of Bal Gangadhar Tilak’s ideas in the present day.
According to the college, the event provided students with an opportunity to examine historical perspectives on nationalism while relating them to the aspirations and responsibilities of contemporary youth.
Students Discussed Tilak’s Vision of Nationalism
Participants presented speeches on the concept of nationalism associated with Bal Gangadhar Tilak, one of India’s prominent leaders during the freedom movement.
According to the organisers, students analysed Tilak’s ideas and discussed how they could be interpreted in the context of current social and national issues affecting young people.
The competition aimed to promote critical thinking, public speaking and engagement with historical themes.
Winners Announced
The Department of History announced the following results:
First Place: Mariyum Fatima and Nupur Sinha
Second Place: Anushka Singh Rathore and Prakriti Priyam
Third Place: Riya Ambastha and Tannu Shree
According to the college, the participants were evaluated on their understanding of the subject, presentation skills and overall delivery.
Faculty Supervised the Event
The competition was organised under the supervision of Dr Sister Celine Crasta, Head of the Department of History.
Dr Kriti Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of History, served as the teacher in charge of the event. According to the department, the programme formed part of its efforts to encourage academic discussion and strengthen students’ analytical and communication skills through co-curricular activities.
