Patna: Bihar Home Department on July 23 reviewed preparations for the phased implementation of the Nyay-Shruti system across the state following the successful completion of its pilot trial.
The review meeting was chaired by Home Department Secretary Kundan Kumar and brought together representatives from all key pillars of the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) to assess operational and technical preparedness for the statewide rollout.
Senior Officials Attend Review Meeting
Officials from Bihar Police, Prison and Correctional Services, Patna High Court, Directorate of Prosecution, Health Department, Social Welfare Department, National Informatics Centre (NIC), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) participated in the meeting.
The discussions focused on strengthening coordination among departments to ensure the system is implemented in a phased and efficient manner.
Institutions Asked to Appoint Coordinators
Home Department directed all participating institutions to designate a dedicated space and appoint a coordinator for the operation of the Nyay-Shruti system.
The directive applies to prosecution offices, police stations, district hospitals, District Magistrate offices, and observation homes and places of safety functioning under the Juvenile Justice Board.
According to the department, these measures are intended to support the smooth functioning of the system during its implementation.
Technical Work to Be Completed Promptly
Officials from NIC, TCS, and SCRB were instructed to complete the remaining technical and procedural work related to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) at the earliest.
The meeting also called for the completion of pending work at the Patna High Court level to facilitate seamless integration of the Nyay-Shruti system.
Bihar Added to National Dashboard
Officials informed the meeting that Bihar has been included on the national dashboard of states implementing the Nyay-Shruti system after the pilot project achieved complete success.
The system will now be expanded across the state in phases. Kundan Kumar directed all concerned departments and agencies to complete their assigned responsibilities within the prescribed timelines to ensure the rollout proceeds as scheduled.
Director of Prosecution Named Nodal Officer
The meeting designated Director of Prosecution Sudhanshu Kumar Chaubey as the nodal officer for the statewide implementation of the Nyay-Shruti system.
A coordination mechanism comprising representatives from all ICJS stakeholders will function under his leadership to monitor implementation, facilitate inter-departmental coordination, and regularly review the project’s progress.
