Patna: The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) – Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell, in collaboration with the WE–PWC Gender Cell of Patna Women’s College, organised two parallel sessions on September 24, focusing on women’s self-worth, gender sensitisation and legal rights.
An interactive session titled “Respect Yourself As A Woman” was organised for students living in hostels outside the college campus. The session was addressed by Professor Shefali Roy, Dean, Social Sciences, Patna University.
Professor Roy encouraged students to understand, accept and respect themselves as women. The session focused on building awareness of self-worth and addressing the objectification of women at both societal and individual levels.
Awareness Programme On Women’s Legal Rights
An Awareness Programme on “Legal Rights for Women” was organised for final-year students. The session was addressed by Mahima Sharma, Advocate, Patna High Court, who discussed key provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly known as the POSH Act.
The programmes were followed by an interactive question-and-answer session. Students raised questions on gender equality, women’s safety and empowerment, and the effectiveness of legal procedures and institutional mechanisms.
The discussion provided students with practical perspectives on understanding their rights and accessing available legal and institutional support.
The initiative was aimed at strengthening students’ awareness of self-worth, legal rights and available mechanisms for addressing concerns related to women’s safety and equality.
