Patna: Political speculation is mounting over the possible return of Bhojpuri actor and former Lok Sabha candidate Pawan Singh to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), following his recent meeting with former Union Minister RK Singh. The encounter, shared by Singh on social media, has fueled debate over whether the actor may also contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
The photograph posted on Singh’s X account shows him and RK Singh smiling, accompanied by the caption: “A new meeting with a new thought.” RK Singh, a BJP stalwart and former MP from Ara, is known to be close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, prompting speculation that the meeting could signal a broader political strategy.

Singh has a history with the BJP, having campaigned for the party in multiple state elections. In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, however, he refused a ticket from the Asansol constituency in West Bengal and instead contested Karakat as an independent. His candidacy reportedly contributed to the National Democratic Alliance’s defeat there, with Rajaram Singh Kushwaha of the Mahagathbandhan (CPI ML) emerging victorious. Despite this, Singh received more votes than the NDA candidate, Upendra Kushwaha.
As the Bihar assembly elections approach, Singh has been increasingly active in the region. While he has not confirmed any party affiliation or constituency, sources suggest he may contest from Karakat or a nearby seat.
Meanwhile, discussions have also emerged over a potential alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), following Singh’s recent praise of its leader, Tejashwi Yadav, in a television interview. No senior leaders from the RJD have commented publicly on the possibility.
Singh’s wife, Jyoti Singh, has also indicated her intention to contest in the elections, mentioning that she could stand from Karakat, Dehri, or Nabinagar, although she has yet to declare a party affiliation.
