Patna: The rift between Bhojpuri film star Pawan Singh and his wife, Jyoti Singh, has deepened after a public exchange of statements on social media following a confrontation at the actor’s Lucknow residence.
Pawan Singh, who lost the Karakat seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, posted a clarification on Instagram after Jyoti Singh accused him of mistreatment. In his statement, the actor alleged that his wife had pressed him to support her in contesting elections.
“Jyoti Singh ji, isn’t it true that when you came to my society yesterday morning, I invited you to my house and we spoke for about an hour and a half? You kept repeating the same thing: make me contest the elections, no matter what,” Singh wrote. He also denied claims that he had called the police, saying officers had already been deployed in the area to ensure no incident took place.
Jyoti Singh, in her response, challenged her husband’s version of events and denied his claims of a lengthy meeting. “You said we talked for an hour and a half, so CCTV footage of me entering and leaving your apartment is captured,” she wrote on social media.

She also proposed a joint appearance before the media. “Our people have the right to know what is true and what is false. If you accept me as your wife for life, then I won’t contest the elections, because we don’t believe in using our own people for power,” she said.
The couple’s legal dispute is ongoing in court, where their divorce case is being heard. Jyoti Singh had campaigned for Pawan Singh during the 2024 general elections, but the two have since traded accusations online, bringing their marital discord into the public domain.
