Patna/Gaya: Gaya is expected to witness a major influx of devotees during Pitru Paksha Mela 2026, with people from different parts of the country travelling to perform Pind Daan and Tarpan for their ancestors.

For those planning to visit Gaya during the religious period, travelling by train can be one of the most convenient options. Gaya Junction is an important railway station with connectivity to several major cities across North and East India.

Gaya Junction Connects Several Major Cities

Gaya Junction is located on the important Delhi-Howrah railway route, making it a key rail hub for passengers travelling between northern and eastern parts of the country.

Several long-distance and regional trains connect Gaya with major cities. Since passenger demand generally rises during Pitru Paksha, devotees should plan their journey and book tickets well in advance.

Delhi to Gaya: What Is the Train Route?

Passengers travelling from Delhi and the NCR region have several train options for reaching Gaya Junction.

Depending on the service, trains may travel through major railway points such as Prayagraj, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction and Sasaram, before reaching Gaya.

Travellers can choose between direct trains and connecting services depending on availability, travel time and convenience. The exact train route, stoppages and operating dates should be checked before booking.

Patna to Gaya Is One of the Easiest Options

Travelling from Patna to Gaya is relatively convenient because of the short rail distance between the two cities.

Several express and passenger services operate towards Gaya from Patna Junction and other nearby railway stations. During Pitru Paksha, devotees travelling from Patna can consider both rail and road options depending on availability and crowd conditions.

Kolkata and Howrah to Gaya by Train

Devotees travelling from Kolkata or Howrah can look for trains operating on the Howrah-Delhi main route that have a scheduled halt at Gaya Junction.

Gaya’s location on this important railway corridor provides connectivity between eastern and northern India, making it accessible for pilgrims travelling from West Bengal and neighbouring regions.

Varanasi and Prayagraj to Gaya

Travellers from Varanasi and Prayagraj also have several rail connectivity options to reach Gaya.

Depending on the train and its operating schedule, passengers may find direct services or trains passing through major junctions on the route to Gaya. Before booking, travellers should confirm that the selected train has a scheduled halt at Gaya Junction.

Special Trains May Be Announced for Pitru Paksha

Indian Railways often introduces special trains and additional services during major festivals and religious gatherings to handle increased passenger demand.

Similar arrangements may be considered for Pitru Paksha Mela 2026, depending on passenger requirements. Devotees should therefore keep an eye on official updates from Indian Railways and East Central Railway before finalising their travel plans.

Train schedules, routes and special services can change, so passengers should rely on the latest official information before travelling.

How to Reach Vishnupad Temple from Gaya Junction

After reaching Gaya Junction, devotees can use auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, taxis and other local transport to reach Vishnupad Temple and other important Pind Daan sites.

The city can remain crowded during Pitru Paksha, so passengers should keep sufficient time for the journey from the railway station to their destination.

Check Train Details Before Travelling

With passenger numbers expected to rise during Pitru Paksha Mela, travellers should plan their journeys early and book tickets wherever possible.

Before leaving, check the train number, departure time, stoppages, operating date and latest route information. Railway authorities may modify schedules or introduce special services depending on passenger demand.

For the safest travel plan, devotees should rely on updated information from official railway sources before finalising their journey to Gaya.
