Gayaji: Ahead of the Pitru Paksha Mela, the district administration has strengthened digital services for pilgrims arriving from across India and abroad. It has launched the ‘Pinddaan Gayaji’ mobile app and website to provide essential information on a single platform.
The app is available on the Google Play Store, while the website, pinddaan-gaya.bihar.gov.in, has also gone live. Pilgrims can access information before travelling and while attending the mela.
Online Registration And Ritual Information
The digital platform allows pilgrims to register online from home and access information about Pind Daan rituals and various Vedis (ritual sites).
It also provides details about Pandas (priests), tent cities, government accommodation, hotels and guest houses, including available capacity and contact information.
Multilingual ‘May I Help You’ Service
Gayaji District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar said several measures have been introduced to assist pilgrims this year. For the first time, ‘May I Help You’ desks will offer assistance in multiple local languages.
The administration has also introduced Google Translator facilities with AI-based features at fairground counters to help staff communicate with pilgrims facing language barriers.
Travel And Local Transport Information
The app and website include railway timetable and airport-related information for pilgrims travelling to Gayaji by train or air.
Information on local transport, parking locations and fare charts has also been uploaded, allowing visitors to plan their onward journey after reaching Gayaji.
Emergency And Lost-And-Found Services
The digital platform includes a ‘Lost and Found’ facility to help pilgrims report missing persons and receive updates during the mela.
Contact details for police, hospitals, ambulances, health camps and emergency helplines are also available. A ‘Quick Emergency Call’ feature has been included to help users contact relevant emergency services directly.
Digital Support Ahead Of The Mela
The administration has begun trials of the technical arrangements ahead of the Pitru Paksha Mela. The initiative is intended to bring information on rituals, accommodation, travel, transport and emergency services together on one official digital platform for pilgrims visiting Gayaji.
