Patna: Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor filed his nomination papers for the Bankipur Assembly by-election on Monday after leading a foot march through central Patna with party workers, supporters and local residents.
The march began at the Scout & Guide Ground and passed through Kotwali Police Station, Dakbungalow, SP Verma Road, JP Golambar and Gandhi Maidan before concluding at the Collectorate, where Kishor submitted his nomination papers.

Foot March Held Ahead of Nomination
The party said a large number of Jan Suraaj workers and supporters participated in the march. Slogans in support of the party and its candidate were raised along the route.
The nomination marks Jan Suraaj’s formal entry into the contest for the Bankipur Assembly by-election.
Kishor Outlines Political Message
Addressing reporters after filing his nomination, Kishor said the election represented more than a contest for a legislative seat.
“This is not merely my nomination; it represents the changing face of Bihar and a nomination for the state’s better future.”
He also described the by-election as “the beginning of a movement” and called for political change in the state.

Criticism of BJP and Appeal to Voters
Kishor said Bankipur did not belong to any political party or individual, adding that voters would decide its political future.
He further said the by-election was an opportunity to change Bihar’s leadership, criticising the BJP’s functioning in the state and arguing that elected representatives should be held accountable by the electorate.
