Patna: After a comprehensive defeat in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, Prashant Kishor has begun efforts to rebuild his fledgling political outfit, the Jan Suraaj Party, with a statewide tour starting on February 8.
Jan Suraaj on Tuesday released the schedule for the first phase of Kishor’s Bihar outreach, which will run from February 8 to February 13. The tour will begin in West Champaran, a region where Kishor has previously invested significant political effort during his statewide padyatra.
According to the party programme, Kishor will hold meetings in Bagaha on February 8, followed by Bettiah on February 9. He will then travel to Motihari in East Champaran on February 10, Darbhanga on February 11, Muzaffarpur on February 12, and conclude the first phase in Vaishali district on February 13.
The tour comes at a critical moment for Jan Suraaj. Despite contesting all seats independently in the 2025 assembly elections, the party failed to secure a single victory, triggering internal dissent and the exit of several leaders and office-bearers. The setback has forced a rethink of strategy and organisation within the party.
In a letter circulated to party workers, Jan Suraaj said the meetings would focus on organisational restructuring, leadership recalibration and “empowering the party for a new phase of political engagement”. The party also said that within three days of each district-level meeting, a fresh organisational structure would be announced at the district headquarters, in the presence of the state president and senior leaders.
