Patna: The death of a young girl preparing for the NEET medical entrance examination in Patna has raised serious questions about the police investigation. The student was found dead in a girls’ hostel in the Bihar capital, and police initially described the case as a suicide. However, the post-mortem report has now cast doubt on that claim, forcing authorities to face growing pressure from the family and the public.
Family members of the deceased have accused the police of rushing to conclusions without properly examining the circumstances. They have alleged that signs pointing to sexual assault were ignored during the early stages of the probe. According to the family, the post-mortem findings support their suspicion and clearly indicate the need for a deeper and more honest investigation into how the student died.
Anger has been building among relatives and local residents, who say the handling of the case has added to their pain. The family has also claimed that they are being pressured by police officials to withdraw the case, an allegation that has further damaged trust in the investigation. The area around the hostel has remained tense as calls for justice grow louder.
Jan Suraj convenor Prashant Kishor visited Jehanabad to meet the victim’s family and assured them of full support. Speaking to the media, Kishor said that if the police had made mistakes during the initial investigation, they must be corrected immediately. He announced plans to meet senior police officers along with the family to demand a fair, transparent and thorough probe.
Kishor also warned that if justice is not delivered, his organisation will take all democratic steps within the framework of the constitution. The case has now become a symbol of wider concerns over student safety and police accountability in Bihar.
