Patna: Political strategist Prashant Kishor has vowed to continue his efforts to reform Bihar, following the defeat of the Jan Suraaj Party in the state elections. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Kishor announced he would undertake a one-day fast at Bhitiharwa Ashram on November 20 as a gesture of introspection and commitment to the people of Bihar.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, Kishor acknowledged that his party had made mistakes but emphasised that no crimes had been committed. “Not getting votes is not a crime,” he said. He also criticised the Nitish Kumar-led government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly distributing financial incentives to voters. “The government has given Rs 10,000 to 1.5 crore people. Nitish Kumar has prima facie bought votes, but we have no proof,” Kishor added.
Kishor reaffirmed his dedication to Bihar, countering rumours that he might leave the state. “We will never step back. We will work with all our might and will win twice as hard,” he said, emphasising that his efforts aimed to reduce migration from Bihar and improve governance.
Highlighting the lack of direct support for some residents, Kishor called on people who had not received promised aid of Rs 2 lakh under government schemes to contact him directly. “I will personally meet with Nitish Kumar and find a solution,” he said.
The strategist also claimed his party had avoided exploiting caste or religious divisions during the elections. “We have never played the Hindu-Muslim card. We did not create any caste or religious divides,” he said, insisting that Jan Suraaj had campaigned on good governance rather than vote-buying.
Kishor signalled plans for structural reforms in Bihar, saying, “A new system will be established in Bihar. I take responsibility for this. Bihar’s future will change not from politics but from the united will of the people.”
