Samastipur: In a shocking incident, criminals shot dead a private school owner in Samastipur district on Sunday afternoon, firing at least 13 bullets at him at close range. Police recovered 14 empty cartridges from the spot, indicating a brutal and targeted killing.

According to doctors who conducted the post-mortem, the victim had bullet injuries on his chest, shoulder, neck and other parts of the body. “There were 13 clear bullet marks on the body,” a doctor said.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh, who ran a private school in Mirzapur village and had also become involved in land dealing in recent months. Family members are not speaking openly yet, but police sources say both a land dispute and a personal relationship angle are being examined as possible motives.

How the Murder Happened
Ganesh’s school usually remains closed on Mondays and operates on Sundays. On Sunday afternoon, he was returning alone on his motorcycle from Harpur Bhindi when criminals intercepted him near Darjaniya Bridge. Two attackers opened indiscriminate fire with pistols, killing him on the spot.

His body was found lying on the road along with his motorcycle, creating panic in the area.

Land Dispute and Personal Angle Under Probe
According to the family, Ganesh had recently entered the land business along with running the school, which led to disputes with some local people. A village meeting had also been held earlier over a land dispute.

There are also reports of his closeness with a woman teacher working at his school. Though the family has not commented on this, police are probing both the land business and personal relationship angles. Locals claimed that the woman’s husband and brother-in-law were seen near the spot around the time of the incident, adding to suspicion.

NH-28 Blocked, Traffic Hit for Four Hours
Angry residents blocked National Highway 28 near Gandhi Chowk to protest the killing and demand immediate arrests. Traffic remained disrupted for nearly four hours. The jam was lifted only after senior police officers reached the spot and assured swift action.

Police Promise Quick Breakthrough
Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Pandey said that questioning of family members has yielded some crucial leads. “We have received two important inputs from the family. The investigation is underway and those involved will be arrested soon,” he said, adding that the family is cooperating with the probe.

Police have launched a manhunt and assured that the case will be cracked soon.
