Purnia/Patna: A bank manager allegedly shot his wife dead following a domestic dispute at their home in Renu Nagar, under the Khazanchi Hat police station area of Purnia district, Bihar, police said.
The deceased was identified as Shalini Kumari, a Plus-Two level teacher in Srinagar block. Her husband, Rajkumar Yadav, is a manager at Madhubani Bazaar Cooperative Bank.
According to the family, the couple had argued earlier on Sunday. Shalini’s two children, aged four and nine, were reportedly at home when the shooting took place.
The children told relatives that following a verbal argument, their father allegedly shot their mother in the chest.
Neighbours Heard Gunshot, Children Crying
Residents said they heard a gunshot followed by the sound of the children crying. Neighbours rushed to the house and took Shalini, who was seriously injured, to GMCH Hospital.
Doctors examined her and declared her dead.
Shalini’s maternal uncle, Gauri Shankar, said the family was aware of disagreements between the couple but that the precise cause of Sunday’s dispute was not yet known.
“There had been reports of discord between the couple in the past. However, the exact reason for the dispute on Sunday is not yet known.”
Police Launch Raids For Absconding Husband
Police reached the hospital and crime scene after being alerted and began investigating the incident.
Jayprakash Singh, station house officer of Khazanchi Hat police station, said the preliminary investigation indicated that domestic discord was behind the incident and that the husband had allegedly shot his wife.
The police have taken custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.
Yadav allegedly fled after the shooting, and multiple police teams have been conducting raids to locate and arrest him.
“Following the incident, the body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The accused husband is absconding, and raids are being conducted to arrest him.”
The investigation is continuing, with police yet to establish the precise circumstances and motive behind the shooting.
