Purnia: The district magistrate of Purnia, Anshul Kumar, is set to receive the prestigious Best District Election Award from President Droupadi Murmu on January 25, National Voters’ Day, in recognition of exemplary management of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
The Election Commission of India cited Purnia district for its “peaceful, transparent, and fair” conduct of the elections, highlighting high voter participation, strict maintenance of law and order, and the smooth execution of electoral procedures. An official letter from the commission congratulated the district administration for setting a benchmark for other districts across the country.
Kumar’s leadership was praised as a decisive factor in the district’s success. He coordinated the electoral machinery at every level, from polling booths to district offices, ensuring disciplined teamwork among officers and staff. The deputy election officer of Purnia noted that “excellent coordination and dedication at all levels” contributed to the seamless conduct of the elections.
The administration also acknowledged the role of local print and electronic media in promoting voter awareness and supporting impartial reporting, which strengthened the democratic process. Cooperation from political parties and elected representatives helped maintain peace throughout the polling period.
The award is being seen as a moment of pride not only for Purnia but for the wider Seemanchal region and Bihar, showcasing how effective leadership and collective effort can earn national recognition.
