Patna: The REC Regional Office, Patna, organised a one-day workshop on quality assurance under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) for North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL).
The workshop focused on quality control, adherence to prescribed technical standards and the timely and transparent implementation of RDSS projects in Bihar.
Engineers And Stakeholders Attend Workshop
I.C. Yadav, Director (Project), NBPDCL, and Deepak Kumar, Director (Project), SBPDCL, attended the workshop as chief guests.
In their addresses, the officials stressed the importance of quality in project execution and urged agencies involved in RDSS works to follow technical standards and quality protocols.
The workshop was attended by around 150 electrical engineers from the two distribution companies. Chief Engineers Ranjit Kumar, Rizwan Ahmed, Shriram Singh and Jaishankar Sahni from SBPDCL, along with Manoj Kumar and Bhanu Prasad from NBPDCL, participated in the programme.
Turnkey Contractors (TKCs), Project Management Agencies (PMAs), manufacturers and other stakeholders also attended.
Focus On Quality Testing And Compliance
Discussions covered quality testing, inspection procedures, material quality, documentation, safety standards and compliance with technical specifications.
Participants also discussed practical challenges encountered during project implementation and possible solutions.
REC officials, including Chief Programme Manager S.K. Bage, Head of Quality Division Yogendra Singh, Pankaj Kapasiya and Gurpreet Kaur, delivered presentations on quality monitoring practices, inspection mechanisms and coordination among stakeholders.
The workshop placed emphasis on improving accountability and coordination among agencies involved in RDSS projects.
The programme was conducted by Abhay Bharti.
Field Visit To Project Sites
A field visit was organised after the workshop to give participants practical exposure to quality monitoring and documentation at project sites.
REC Patna Regional Office officials Suvan, Manish, Abhishek, Dilip and Akshay guided the teams during the visit and explained processes related to quality testing, work execution, record-keeping and inspections.
The workshop and field visit were aimed at strengthening quality assurance practices and supporting the implementation of power distribution infrastructure projects under the RDSS in Bihar.
