Patna: The Bihar government has issued a final notice to former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, Rabri Devi, directing her to vacate the government residence at 10 Circular Road within seven days.
The Building Construction Department warned that if the bungalow is not vacated by June 29, it will initiate legal proceedings under the Bihar Government Premises Act.
Final Opportunity To Vacate
According to the department, the final reminder was issued on June 22, giving Rabri Devi one last opportunity to hand over possession of the government residence.
The seven-day deadline expires on June 29, after which the department said it would proceed with action in accordance with the law if the premises remain occupied.
Earlier Notices Ignored
Officials said the department had written to Rabri Devi on several occasions requesting that she vacate the residence.
A formal notice issued on June 3 required the bungalow to be vacated within seven days. However, according to the department, the residence has not yet been handed over.
The latest communication has therefore been issued as a final reminder before legal action is initiated.
Alternative Official Residence Allotted
The government said Rabri Devi has already been allotted an official residence at 39 Harding Road in her capacity as the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council.
The department maintains that, following the new allotment, she is required to vacate the residence at 10 Circular Road.
New Allottee Awaiting Possession
According to the Building Construction Department, the bungalow at 10 Circular Road has already been allotted to Nandkishore Ram.
Officials said the new allottee has been unable to take possession of the property because the residence has not yet been vacated.
The department reiterated that if possession is not handed over by the expiry of the notice period on June 29, further proceedings will be initiated under the Bihar Government Premises Act to recover the government accommodation.
