Patna: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has vowed to continue highlighting alleged electoral irregularities, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power through “stolen” elections, despite the Election Commission dismissing his previous allegations.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Gandhi said he intended to raise awareness among the youth and inform the Governor of alleged lapses in the electoral process. “We will show the Governor that Modi became PM by stealing the election,” he said.
Gandhi claimed that during the Haryana elections, irregularities amounted to “wholesale theft.” He alleged that voter ID cards were issued with incorrect details, citing an example where a Brazilian woman’s photograph appeared on 200 voter cards at a single polling station. “The Constitution guarantees one man, one vote. This did not happen in Haryana,” he said. He accused Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, and the Election Commission of “jointly attacking the Constitution.”
He also commented on the recent Bihar elections, suggesting that similar anomalies were occurring there, as well as in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Gujarat. Gandhi did not provide further details but insisted that his efforts to expose the alleged irregularities were ongoing.
“The process has not stopped and will continue,” he said, stressing that the Congress would persist in investigating and publicising what it views as electoral malpractices.
