Patna: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to begin a 1,300 km Vote Rights Yatra across Bihar from Sasaram on Sunday, a journey that will last 16 days and cover around 25 districts. The yatra will see the participation of Grand Alliance leaders including Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Left party leaders, and VIP leaders.
Akhilesh Prasad Singh, former state president of Congress and Rajya Sabha member, said the yatra is aimed at highlighting voter concerns ahead of the upcoming elections. He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal (United) remained silent as the Election Commission prepared to remove 20% of voters’ names during the Special Summary Revision (SIR) process, prompting nationwide concern from other parties.
Akhilesh added that Rahul Gandhi’s campaign focuses on the rights of poor people, women, Dalits, and farmers. “The Mahagathbandhan government will be formed in Bihar. The public is frustrated with the current leadership, and this yatra will reflect that sentiment,” Akhilesh said.
The yatra has received all necessary approvals, including permission for a helicopter and road processions. Akhilesh also dismissed remarks made by Giriraj Singh, urging the public not to take his statements seriously.
During the 16-day journey, Rahul Gandhi will stay in Bihar, engaging with voters across multiple districts.
