Darbhanga: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has approved the introduction of an Amrit Bharat train service between Darbhanga and Ajmer, fulfilling a long-standing demand to enhance railway connectivity in the region.
The announcement follows a meeting with Dr. Gopaljee Thakur, MP and member of the Railway Standing Committee, who confirmed that necessary formalities are underway to launch the service soon.
Strengthening Darbhanga as a Railway Hub
In a press release, Dr. Thakur detailed his discussions with Minister Vaishnav, focusing on the Amrit Bharat train and other ongoing railway projects in Darbhanga and the Mithila region. The minister assured that all necessary steps are being taken to establish Darbhanga as a key railway connectivity hub, aligning with the NDA government’s commitment to the region’s development.
Expediting Key Infrastructure Projects
A major point of discussion was the ₹335 crore redevelopment of Darbhanga Railway Station into a world-class facility under the Amrit Bharat Yojana. Dr. Thakur emphasized the need to accelerate construction work at Darbhanga, Laheriyasarai, and Sakri stations, as well as other significant railway projects. He expressed concern over the slow pace of progress, having raised the issue with the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Samastipur Railway Division.
Dr. Thakur urged the DRM to expedite construction and warned that delays could lead to ministry-level action against the responsible construction agency and railway officials.
