Patna: The railway administration has announced a temporary halt for five pairs of trains at Maihar station during the upcoming Navratri fair. The decision has been taken to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic as thousands of devotees travel to Maihar for the festival.
According to railway officials, the selected trains will stop at Maihar station for five minutes during the festival period. The temporary stoppage will be implemented on different dates between March 18 and March 30 to ensure smoother travel arrangements for pilgrims visiting the area.
Among the trains scheduled for the temporary halt are the Valsad Muzaffarpur Express, Muzaffarpur Valsad Express, Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus Kolhapur Dhanbad Express and its return service, as well as the Raxaul Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express and its return service. These trains will stop briefly at Maihar station to allow passengers to board and alight.
The Patna Purna Junction Express, Purna Junction Patna Express, Patna Bandra Terminus Express and Bandra Terminus Patna Express will also receive the same five minute stoppage at Maihar station during the announced period. Railway authorities said the arrangement has been made especially for devotees travelling to attend the Navratri fair and to reduce crowd pressure at nearby stations.
Officials said the temporary halt is part of special passenger convenience measures introduced during the festival season. The railways have advised travellers to check train schedules in advance as the additional stoppage will remain in effect only for the specified dates during the Navratri fair.
