Patna: The weather in Bihar changed dramatically on Thursday morning as darkness engulfed Patna before heavy rains lashed the city. Similar conditions were reported in Samastipur, bringing respite from the prevailing humid heat.
According to the Meteorological Center, a yellow alert has been issued for 13 districts of the state, warning of light to moderate rainfall over the next 24 hours. The remaining districts are likely to witness normal weather conditions.
In the last 24 hours, heavy showers were recorded in Patna, Samastipur, Jehanabad, Bettiah, Siwan, Kishanganj, Supaul and Gopalganj. Following the downpour, Patna’s maximum temperature dipped to 34.1°C, providing much-needed relief to residents.
Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal Intensifies
Meteorologists stated that a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has intensified, pushing humidity levels higher across Bihar. This system is expected to trigger intermittent rainfall in the northern and eastern districts for the next two to three days.
Temperature Set to Fall Further
With rains continuing, both maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to dip by 2 to 3°C across many districts in the next 24 hours. While this change will ease the heat and humidity, officials have cautioned that excessive rainfall in some areas may lead to localised waterlogging.
