Patna: Aizawl is set to be directly connected to Delhi by a Rajdhani Express for the first time, with operations beginning this month. The new service will run between Sairang station in Aizawl and Anand Vihar in the capital via Guwahati, Malda Town, Bhagalpur, Kiul, Patna, DDU and Kanpur Central.
The inaugural journey will take place on Saturday as a special service, train number 02057 Sairang–Anand Vihar Inaugural Special. It will depart Sairang at 10.00 am and, after halts at key stations, is scheduled to arrive in Anand Vihar on September 15 at 7.30 am. The train will reach Bhagalpur on September 14 at 1.55 pm, Jamalpur at 2.55 pm, Patna Junction at 5.50 pm and DDU at 9.20 pm.
Regular services will begin on September 19. Train number 20507 Sairang–Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express will leave Sairang every Friday at 4.30 pm, reaching Bhagalpur the following evening at 6.10 pm, Patna Junction at 10.00 pm and DDU at 1.20 am on Sunday, before arriving at Anand Vihar at 10.50 am.
The return service, train number 20508, will leave Anand Vihar every Sunday from September 21 at 7.50 pm, reaching DDU on Monday at 4.35 am, Patna Junction at 8.00 am, Bhagalpur at 12.25 pm and finally arriving in Sairang on Tuesday at 3.15 pm.
Railway officials said the new Rajdhani service would significantly improve connectivity between the Northeast and the national capital, reducing travel time while offering greater convenience for passengers from Mizoram and neighbouring regions.
