Patna: More than 4,70,000 aspirants had applied for the Bihar Public Service Commission’s 71st preliminary examination scheduled for Saturday, but only 3,45,000 downloaded their admit cards by Friday evening, leaving around 1,25,000 out before the first question is asked.
The BPSC’s 71st Integrated Combined Competitive Examination will be conducted on September 13 in a single shift from 12 pm to 2 pm across 912 centres in 37 districts of Bihar. Candidates will be allowed entry from 9.30 am, with the gates closing at 11 am sharp.
Officials have banned electronic gadgets inside centres and announced a three-tier security check. District magistrates and additional magistrates will oversee the arrangements, with candidates advised to report irregularities to local authorities.
The commission has cautioned aspirants against misinformation, urging them to verify any exam-related updates directly with its office.
Last year, in the 70th preliminary exam, about 40,000 candidates skipped the test despite downloading their admit cards. With around 1,298 posts on offer this year, competition is expected to remain fierce, but attendance on Saturday could fall short of expectations.
In Kishanganj district, 4,956 candidates are registered to appear at 10 designated centres. Preparations are being closely monitored by local administration officials ahead of the exam.
