Rajgir Ropeway to Shut for Holi on March 14-15,Tourists Advised to Plan Ahead

Rajgir / Patna : Rajgir’s famous ropeway, a major tourist draw in Bihar’s Nalanda district, will be out of service for two days during the Holi festival due to administrative arrangements. Authorities have announced that the ropeway will remain closed on Friday, 14 March, and Saturday, 15 March, before resuming operations on Sunday, 16 March.

The Rajgir ropeway, which transports visitors to the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, is one of Bihar’s most visited attractions, offering breathtaking aerial views of the region. It sees a daily footfall of around 1,500 tourists, making it a crucial part of the visitor experience in Rajgir.

Holi Preparations Prompt Temporary Closure

According to Deepak Kumar, the ropeway manager, the decision to suspend services was taken in coordination with local authorities to maintain a smooth administrative setup during Holi. The festival, celebrated with great enthusiasm in Bihar, often leads to a surge in tourist activity, requiring additional crowd management measures.

“We understand that the Rajgir ropeway is a key attraction, especially during the festive season. However, ensuring the safety and convenience of both visitors and locals is our priority. We request tourists to plan their trips accordingly,” said Deepak Kumar.

Tourists Advised to Check Updates

With the ropeway being a major highlight for visitors to Rajgir, tourists planning a visit during this period have been urged to stay updated on official announcements and adjust their itineraries.

The Vishwa Shanti Stupa, a revered Buddhist monument, attracts thousands of domestic and international visitors annually. Apart from the ropeway ride, the site offers a peaceful retreat and stunning views of the surrounding hills.

Authorities have assured that the ropeway will resume normal operations on 16 March and expect services to run smoothly once the Holi celebrations conclude.
