Rajgir: Rajgir Zoo Safari concluded Wildlife Week on October 8 with a closing ceremony and prize distribution, following a week of activities aimed at promoting wildlife conservation, environmental awareness and biodiversity.
Around 400 participants from outside the Zoo Safari took part in the programmes organised from October 2 to 8. The activities were designed to encourage students, young people and the general public to take an active interest in protecting nature and wildlife.
Week-Long Activities Promote Conservation
The celebrations began on October 2 with a cleanliness drive, followed by a painting competition on October 3 centred on wildlife and nature conservation.
On October 4, participants were introduced to the region’s diverse bird and butterfly species. The book Birds and Butterflies was also launched during the programme.
A public awareness programme on wildlife conservation was organised on October 5, followed by an event engaging young people in wildlife protection and environmental awareness on October 6.
On October 7, a session focused on wildlife conservation, biodiversity and environmental balance. The week concluded on October 8 with a ceremony at the Zoo Safari complex, where outstanding participants were honoured for their performance and contributions.

Zoo Safari Expands Public Outreach
Rajgir Zoo Safari Director Rai Chundar M commended forest staff for their efforts in coordinating the week-long activities. He said organising such programmes also helps strengthen the leadership qualities of staff members.
He said Rajgir Zoo Safari was expanding its outreach and awareness initiatives to engage people across age groups, including schoolchildren, young people, researchers and teachers.
The programmes were intended to build greater public awareness of wildlife conservation and encourage broader participation in protecting the environment and biodiversity.
