Gayaji: A Naxalite who had been hiding for nine years was finally arrested in Gayaji. The accused, Randhir Kumar, was caught in a joint operation by the police and the Special Task Force (STF). He was arrested from Durgabari under the Civil Line police station area in Gaya city.
Police said that Randhir Kumar is a resident of the Wazirganj police station area. In 2016, he had demanded levy money from a construction company building a bridge on the Gayaji-Wazirganj road. When the company refused to pay him, he set fire to several machines used for construction. Since then, he was absconding to avoid arrest.
Wazirganj SDPO Sunil Kumar Pandey confirmed the arrest. He said, “Randhir Kumar was arrested from Durgabari in a joint raid by STF and Mufassil police. His criminal history is being investigated and further action will be taken soon.”
The arrest of Randhir Kumar has brought relief to the police and locals. Officials said they will continue similar operations to catch other Naxals hiding in the area.
