Patna: Ride-sharing platform Rapido has announced that it will offer free bike taxi rides in Patna on polling day, November 6, in an effort to boost voter participation in the Bihar Legislative Assembly General Elections 2025.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Patna District Administration, will allow voters to claim rides worth up to Rs 50 using the coupon code “VOTENOW” on the Rapido app. The offer will be valid only on bike taxi rides within Patna on election day.
“Every vote plays a crucial role in shaping the future of our country,” said Rapido co-founder Pawan Guntupalli. “Voting is both a right and a responsibility. At Rapido, we believe that mobility can empower people to participate more easily in the democratic process. Through this initiative, we hope to encourage more citizens to step out and vote.”
Over 1,200 Rapido captains will be available throughout the day to help voters reach polling booths. The company, which operates in over 400 cities across India, said the move is part of its wider effort to drive social impact through technology-driven mobility solutions.
The District Election Officer and District Magistrate of Patna welcomed Rapido’s participation, noting that the administration has been running an extensive Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign to promote awareness and participation.
“The SVEEP campaign has now become a people’s movement,” the District Magistrate said. “Stakeholders from across sectors — including the Chamber of Commerce, Cinema Owners Association, school associations, Resident Welfare Associations, and local influencers — are contributing to voter awareness.”
In a further incentive, the Cinema Owners Association has announced a 50% discount on all movie tickets for voters who show their inked finger at cinema halls on November 6 and 7. “Efforts like these, along with Rapido’s initiative, will make voting both convenient and rewarding,” the District Magistrate added.
