Patna: In a significant move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and alleviating chronic traffic congestion, the railway administration at Patna Junction has introduced a massive new vehicle parking facility. The new lot, strategically located behind the Rail Mail Service (RMS) and the Railway Police (GRP) offices, offers parking charges up to 50 percent lower than the main station parking area.
The administration stated that the most crucial feature of the new facility is its hassle-free access, which is available directly from under the GPO roundabout. This dedicated entry point is designed to eliminate the notorious traffic bottlenecks that plague the main station entrance, benefiting thousands of commuters daily.
The new parking space extends approximately 300 meters from the GPO roundabout and boasts an impressive capacity, capable of accommodating over 2,000 vehicles at any given time.
Competitive Pricing and Security
A major draw for passengers will be the substantially discounted rates. For comparison, the two-hour parking fee for four-wheelers in Patna Junction’s main lot is Rs 60. However, the new RMS facility offers the same service for just Rs 29.50. Similar discounted rates are available for two-wheelers, autos, and other vehicles across various time slabs.
The new facility is also equipped with comprehensive security and modern parking amenities, including CCTV cameras, dedicated security guards, and streamlined ticketing systems.
The new parking fees for the RMS parking area are structured as follows (all prices inclusive of taxes):
| Duration | Two-Wheeler (Bike) | Four-Wheeler (Car) |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 2 hours | Rs 11.80 | Rs 29.50 |
| 2 to 6 hours | Rs 14.16 | Rs 59.00 |
| 6 to 12 hours | Rs 23.60 | Rs 88.50 |
| 12 to 24 hours | Rs 29.50 | Rs 147.50 |
| More than 24 hours | Rs 35.40 | Rs 236.00 |
