Patna: As political activity intensifies ahead of the Bihar elections, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has announced a series of promises aimed at the state’s Jeevika Didis, a key group of community workers.
Addressing a gathering in Patna, Yadav pledged that if the Grand Alliance comes to power, Jeevika Didis would be granted government employee status, along with a salary increase to Rs 30,000 per month. “The exploitation of Jeevika Didis under this government is unprecedented,” he said. “We respect all Jeevika Didis, and it is our responsibility to ensure they receive their rights and respect.”

In addition to permanent employment, Yadav promised financial incentives, including a monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 for those performing government-related tasks, waiver of interest on loans, and provision of interest-free loans for two years.
The RJD leader also announced an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh for each woman in the Jeevika cadre and honorariums for group presidents and treasurers. Further benefits would be provided under the state’s Mother-Sister Scheme.
During the press conference, Tejashwi Yadav also elaborated on the MAA and BETI schemes. He stated that MAA stands for M-House, A-Food, A-Income, while BETI stands for B-Benefit, E-Education, T-Training, and I-Income. The schemes are aimed at women, ensuring housing, food, and income for those in need, while daughters will receive education and employment training.
“These are historic announcements,” Yadav said. “Our Jeevika Didis have long demanded recognition and security, and we aim to fulfill these longstanding aspirations.”
