Patna: Fresh political tensions have emerged in Bihar after chief minister Nitish Kumar filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha, with sharp criticism coming from opposition leaders, including Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
Kumar filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha in Patna on March 5 in the presence of Union home minister Amit Shah, a move that has triggered intense speculation about a possible change in leadership in Bihar and the formation of a new state government in the coming days.
Opposition leaders have alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party pressured Kumar into stepping aside, while leaders of his party, the Janata Dal (United), insist the decision was voluntary and part of a political transition.
Acharya criticised Kumar in a series of posts on the social media platform X over the past 24 hours, suggesting that the veteran leader’s political ambitions had backfired. In one post, she mocked what she described as his long-standing aspiration to become prime minister, writing that his “desire to sit on the PM’s chair remained unfulfilled”.
आसमान से गिरे, खजूर पर अटके .. चाचा जी
पीएम की कुर्सी पर बैठने के अरमान धरे के धरे रह गए ,

Using a Hindi idiom, she wrote that her “uncle fell from the sky and got stuck on a date palm,” implying that Kumar had lost both his political standing and authority. She added that he had been removed from the chief minister’s position with “complete indifference”.
In another post, Acharya said Kumar was facing the consequences of his own political decisions. “You reap what you sow,” she wrote, suggesting that his past alliances and political manoeuvres had led to his current situation.
चाचा जी .. एक दफा फिर से याद दिला देती हूँ आपको “अपने किए का फल , देर – सवेर अपने हिस्से ही आता है”…

Acharya also claimed that while the BJP may have drafted the script for what she described as “Operation Lotus”, the plan to sideline Kumar was allegedly carried out by some of his own close associates within the party.

She argued that Kumar’s repeated political shifts and alleged betrayals of allies had ultimately contributed to his present predicament.
Kumar’s Rajya Sabha nomination has sparked a fresh political debate in Bihar, with opposition parties accusing the BJP of orchestrating the move to tighten its control over the state’s political landscape. However, leaders of JD(U) maintain that Kumar chose to move to the upper house of parliament on his own accord.
