Hajipur: Human trafficking remains a serious concern, with individuals, particularly women and children, exploited through force, fraud, or coercion. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) plays a crucial role in combating this crime on the vast Indian railway network.
While not directly responsible for investigation, the RPF actively assists state police agencies in preventing, detecting, and investigating human trafficking cases. Recognizing the vulnerability of the railway network for traffickers, the RPF has implemented several initiatives to counter this threat.
“Operation Aahat,” a nationwide operation, focuses on rescuing victims from the clutches of traffickers. In recent years, the RPF has successfully rescued thousands of individuals and arrested hundreds of human traffickers across India.
“Operation Nanhe Farishte” aims to protect children traveling alone or with suspicious companions. The RPF has rescued thousands of children through this initiative, ensuring their safety and well-being.
The establishment of Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) has further strengthened the RPF’s capabilities. These units actively gather intelligence, share information with other agencies, and analyze data to identify potential trafficking routes and vulnerable individuals.
Public awareness campaigns are conducted at railway stations to educate the public about the signs of human trafficking and encourage them to report suspicious activities.
The RPF collaborates with various government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations to combat human trafficking effectively.
The RPF continues to address the challenges posed by human trafficking through technological advancements, strengthened partnerships, and enhanced training for its personnel.
