Patna: A fault in the Saharsa-Madhepura Circuit-II transmission line affected around 55 MW of load on Monday evening amid heavy rainfall, but power supply was maintained through alternative arrangements and the line was restored during the night, according to the Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL).
The fault occurred at 7:17 PM, affecting power supply in Murliganj, areas under the Udakishanganj subdivision and Kumar Khand.
Alternative Arrangements Maintain Supply
Following the fault, BSPTCL field teams, the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), BSPTCL’s operations and maintenance team and the North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) coordinated to manage the affected load.
The full load at the Grid Sub-Station (GSS) Udakishanganj was restored by 10:16 PM. Power supply at GSS Murliganj continued without load restriction, the company said.
Fault Located And Repaired
With the help of a fault locator, teams identified the probable location of the fault and began line patrolling.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, technical teams reached the site, located the fault and completed the required repair work. The Saharsa-Madhepura Circuit-II transmission line was charged at 2:16 AM, restoring power supply.
BSPTCL managing director Naval Kishore Choudhary monitored the restoration work and coordinated with field teams and technical officials during the operation.
Officials Appreciate Teams
Choudhary said the teams responded promptly despite the weather conditions and worked to normalise power supply at the earliest.
Energy secretary and BSPHCL chairman-cum-managing director Ajay Yadav appreciated the BSPTCL and NBPDCL teams for their efforts.
BSPTCL and NBPDCL said they remain committed to maintaining reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers.
