Samastipur: A shocking incident took place in Samastipur district, Bihar, on Saturday when a young man ended his life after a failed love affair. The man, identified as Amar, climbed a mobile tower in his village and threatened to jump if the woman he loved did not agree to marry him. Local villagers tried to reason with him for hours, but he remained determined to take the extreme step.
Amar’s love was reportedly one-sided. He had fallen in love with a married woman living near his house and repeatedly asked her to marry him. She, however, refused every time, leaving him heartbroken. The young man’s feelings grew more desperate over time, leading him to climb the tower as a final attempt to win her over.
From around 2 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, a large crowd gathered as Amar stayed atop the high tower. Villagers and local authorities tried to persuade him to come down safely. Amar reportedly said he would only descend if the woman agreed to marry him. As the woman was already married, she could not accept his demand, and the situation ended in tragedy.
At approximately 6 pm, Amar jumped from the tower and suffered severe injuries upon landing. He was rushed to Kalyanpur Community Health Centre by the police, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. The police sent his body to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem. Sanjay Kumar, Sadar DSP, stated, “The young man had climbed the tower due to a love affair. Locals tried to pull him down, but he lost his balance and fell to his death.”
The incident has left the village in shock, highlighting the emotional struggles faced by young people in matters of love and relationships. It also raises questions about the support systems available for individuals dealing with emotional distress in rural areas.
