Rail police in Samastipur have arrested a woman and a man after allegedly recovering around 75 litres of foreign liquor from the First AC coach of the Swatantrata Senani Express.
The seizure was made at Samastipur railway station following information received by the rail police about liquor being transported on the train.
According to the report, police searched passengers and their luggage in the H-1 coach after the train arrived at the station.
During the search, two suitcases allegedly belonging to the two passengers were found to contain bottles of branded foreign liquor.
Two Passengers Arrested
The arrested woman has been identified as Neha Kumari, a resident of Bari village under the Singhia Ghat police station area of Samastipur district, according to police.
The man arrested with her has been identified as Ishaan Kumar, a resident of Karnal in Haryana.
Police seized the liquor and took both suspects into custody for questioning. A case has been initiated and further legal proceedings are underway.

Following the arrests, photographs and videos of Neha Kumari recorded by people at the railway station were circulated widely on social media.
Some social media posts focused on her appearance and personal profile rather than the police action. Such online commentary has contributed to the case receiving wider attention.
Reports have also referred to alleged previous liquor-related cases involving members of her family. However, these claims have not been independently verified through official records available in the report and should not be treated as established facts.
Police Investigating Source Of Liquor Consignment
The rail police are investigating where the liquor consignment was sourced and where it was allegedly being taken in Bihar.
Investigators are also examining whether the two arrested suspects had previously been involved in similar cases and whether other people were connected to the transportation of the liquor.
The recovery comes amid Bihar’s prohibition law, under which the manufacture, sale, storage and transportation of liquor are prohibited.
Further Investigation Underway
The police have seized the liquor and begun the legal process against the two arrested suspects.
The investigation is expected to establish the origin and intended destination of the consignment and determine whether others were involved.
