Patna: Patna is set to witness major changes in its urban infrastructure after Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced several development projects aimed at improving public transport and civic facilities in the state capital. During a meeting with officials from the Urban Development Department, the chief minister instructed authorities to ensure that all projects are completed on time. He said any issue slowing down construction work, especially the Patna Metro project, should be resolved quickly so that people can benefit from better infrastructure without delays.
One of the biggest announcements made during the meeting was the proposed metro connectivity to Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport. Officials informed the chief minister that a Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system is being planned to connect the airport directly with the metro network. The project is expected to make travel easier for passengers and reduce traffic congestion in the city. The government believes that improved public transport will play an important role in Patna’s future growth and development.
The government also shared details about a large comprehensive park that will be developed between Digha and Sabhyata Dwar. The 6km-long riverside project is expected to be completed by September 2027. According to officials, the park will include gardens, walking tracks, cycling paths, parking areas, six sports grounds and urban community spaces. A special ‘Mahila Haat’ will also be built to support women entrepreneurs and local businesses. Samrat Chaudhary directed officials to ensure that the project follows eco-friendly guidelines and is developed in a planned and safe manner.
Apart from these projects, the Bihar government is also planning to develop 11 satellite townships across the state to support urban expansion and reduce pressure on major cities. The chief minister instructed officials to complete the township projects in phases for better implementation. He also said that beautification work along the JP Ganga Path should focus on both public safety and public enjoyment. The announcements highlight the government’s efforts to modernise Patna and improve the quality of life for residents through better transport, green spaces and planned urban development.
