New Delhi/Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has been allotted a government residence in New Delhi by the Central Government, officials said. The bungalow, located in Kamraj Lane within the Lutyens’ Delhi area, will serve as his official accommodation during visits to the national capital.

Bungalow in VVIP Zone

According to official allocation details, Choudhary has been assigned Bungalow No. 6 in Kamraj Lane, classified as a Type-8 government residence. The locality is considered a high-security VVIP zone, housing Union ministers, senior leaders and former chief ministers.

Officials said the bungalow will be used for official work, including meetings with central ministries and administrative discussions related to Bihar.

Previous Allotment

Reports indicate that the same bungalow was earlier allotted to former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Later, after he became a Rajya Sabha member, he was shifted to another government residence on Sunheri Bagh Road in Delhi.

The reassignment of the bungalow to the current Bihar chief minister has drawn attention in political circles.

Utility for Official Visits

The new allocation is expected to provide a fixed base for Samrat Choudhary during his Delhi visits, reducing reliance on temporary accommodation or state guest houses. Officials suggest it will streamline coordination with central government departments.

Political Context

Choudhary has been travelling frequently between Patna and Delhi since taking charge as chief minister. His allotment of a residence in a VVIP zone is being viewed as an administrative arrangement linked to his official responsibilities.

In Patna, the chief minister currently resides at Lok Sevak Awas, earlier known as 1 Aney Marg, which serves as the official residence of the Bihar chief minister.

  • 🚗 Bihar is set to strengthen road safety standards with a major change in the driving licence process. Soon, applicants seeking a Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) licence will be required to complete certified training from a recognised driving institute before obtaining their licence.

The decision, approved by the Bihar Road Safety Council, aims to ensure that new drivers receive proper training in traffic rules, road safety practices, and responsible driving behaviour. With 41 operational driving training schools already functioning across the state and more institutes under development, the initiative is expected to improve driving standards and contribute to reducing road accidents.

Officials say the reform will help create a culture of safer and more disciplined driving across Bihar, placing greater emphasis on skill-based training before drivers take to the roads.
