Patna: The 77th Republic Day was marked with ceremony and patriotic fervour at the Frontier Headquarters of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Patna, where senior officers, jawans and their families gathered for a formal parade and awards ceremony.
The national flag was hoisted by Nishit Kumar Ujjwal, Inspector General of SSB Frontier Patna, who also read out the Republic Day message of the Director General of the force. Addressing the assembled personnel, he extended greetings on the occasion and urged them to continue serving the nation in the spirit of constitutional values and discipline.
In his address, Ujjwal highlighted the operational achievements of SSB units under Frontier Patna, particularly in border regions and areas affected by left-wing extremism. He praised the personnel for their professionalism and commitment, noting their role in strengthening internal security and border management.

The ceremony also featured the conferment of service medals. Two SSB officers were awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while 11 officers and personnel received the Medal for Meritorious Service. In addition, 38 officers and jawans serving under Frontier Patna were honoured with the Director General’s Medal for exemplary performance.
According to official data shared on the occasion, SSB battalions deployed under Frontier Patna registered 2,183 cases in 2025 related to illegal arms, narcotics, human trafficking, and the arrest or surrender of Naxalites, underscoring the breadth of the force’s operational responsibilities.
Senior officers including Deputy Inspector General Rudolph Alvarez and Deputy Inspector General (Medical) Dr Abhay Prakash were present at the event, along with families of personnel and invited guests. The programme concluded with patriotic slogans and the distribution of sweets, bringing the formal celebrations to a close.
