Patna: Bihar energy department celebrated the 77th Republic Day with a flag hoisting ceremony at Vidyut Bhawan in Patna, where senior officials used the occasion to reiterate their commitment to strengthening the state’s electricity services and expanding renewable energy programmes.
Manoj Kumar Singh, the state’s energy secretary and chairman-cum-managing director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited, hoisted the national flag and saluted the tricolour in the presence of officers and employees. Addressing the gathering, he extended greetings to staff and emphasised the department’s responsibility to work in line with the constitutional values of public service and accountability.
Singh highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to improve access to sustainable power through schemes such as the PM Surya Ghar initiative, the Kusum scheme and the free electricity programme. He said these measures were aimed at promoting clean energy adoption while ensuring reliable supply to households and farmers across the state.
The department has prioritised the swift resolution of consumer complaints and the maintenance of grid stability, describing both as essential for uninterrupted service delivery. Officials said these efforts have helped strengthen the overall efficiency of Bihar’s power distribution network.
Rahul Kumar, managing director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, attended the ceremony along with senior representatives from both distribution companies. The event concluded with a rendition of the national anthem performed by students from DAV School, marking the close of the Republic Day observance.
