Bhagalpur: The accident occurred around 10 am as the group was returning home to Abjuganj, Sultanganj after buying a mobile phone in Bhagalpur. According to the victims, local people helped rescue them from the overturned vehicle, but soon after, criminals arrived pretending to assist.
Among those who reached the spot was Ratna, son of notorious criminal Anil Yadav, accompanied by two others. The injured youths alleged that the men searched their pockets and snatched their mobile phones. One of the victims said that the miscreants spared a boy who told them he was in Bihar Police.
As the police arrived, the criminals attempted to flee. The patrol team managed to catch Ratna and recovered four stolen phones from him. However, he bit Havildar Baijnath Singh’s finger and escaped with his companions.
Nathnagar police station in-charge Shakeel Ansari said the injured were admitted to Mayaganj Hospital and assured strict action against the accused based on evidence gathered. Multiple cases of robbery, snatching, and firing are registered against Ratna’s father Anil Yadav in Nathnagar and Madhusudanpur police stations.
