Bettiah: IAS officer Shivankshi Dixit formally took charge as the municipal commissioner of Bettiah municipal corporation on Tuesday. A 2021-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service, she assumed office at the corporation headquarters and immediately began reviewing the functioning of the civic body. Her appointment has created fresh expectations among residents and elected representatives about better municipal services and faster development work in the city.
After taking charge, Dixit said that cleanliness, beautification and overall development of Bettiah would be her top priorities. She explained that work would be carried out in a planned and systematic manner so that the city becomes clean, organised and pleasant for residents. She also stressed that public participation would be given special importance, as cooperation from citizens is essential for lasting improvements in civic life.
The new municipal commissioner said she is already familiar with Bettiah, having completed part of her training in the city. During that period, she had briefly handled the responsibility of municipal commissioner and closely observed the working style of the municipal corporation. Because of this experience, she said she understands many of the city’s problems and needs and can start addressing them without wasting time.
Dixit added that all development work would be planned keeping the convenience of local residents in mind. Soon after assuming office, she met municipal officials and employees to review the division of responsibilities and ongoing work. Several ward councillors also met her to congratulate her on taking charge. Previously posted as municipal commissioner in Munger, Shivankshi Dixit’s arrival in Bettiah has raised hopes for improved efficiency, better coordination and quicker progress in municipal projects.
