Patna: Shreyasi Singh, the newly elected BJP MLA from Jamui, made a major announcement for Bihar’s athletes as soon as she took charge as the state’s IT and Sports Minister. She said that the coming years will bring a bright future for sportspersons in Bihar and the government will continue to strengthen the sports sector. According to her, new policies will be introduced and athletes will be supported with more motivation and improved facilities so they can perform at the highest level.
Speaking about her personal journey, Shreyasi said that her 18 years of experience as a sportsperson gives her a deep understanding of how athletes feel, what challenges they face and what kind of support they need. She added that her family’s long association with the National Sports Association also helps her understand sports administration from the inside. She believes that there is huge potential in sports and now is the time to convert that potential into success and achievements.
Shreyasi said she feels proud and responsible because this department is especially important to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. She said she will work with full dedication so that the government is not disappointed and the athletes of Bihar get every possible opportunity to grow. She also expressed hope that strong development in sports can help reduce unemployment and migration in the future by creating better opportunities for youth within the state.
When asked whether Nitish Kumar has become weak politically, Shreyasi refused to comment and said that decisions made by the top leadership should not be questioned. She also spoke about her priorities as minister and said that she will soon hold a departmental meeting, prepare a blueprint and work step by step to achieve results. Talking about challenges, she said that challenges exist in every field but as a hardworking woman and a sportsperson, she is not afraid of difficulties and knows how to face them with courage.
