New Delhi/Patna: Bihar Industries and Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh held a series of meetings with Union ministers in New Delhi on Friday, seeking support for industrial expansion, investment promotion and employment generation in the state.
During her visit, Singh met Union ministers overseeing MSMEs, textiles and defence, presenting a range of proposals aimed at strengthening Bihar’s industrial ecosystem and enhancing opportunities for local entrepreneurs, artisans and young jobseekers.
Focus on MSMEs and Industrial Growth
Singh met Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and discussed measures to accelerate industrial growth in Bihar, create new employment opportunities and strengthen coordination between the Centre and the state government.
According to the state government, the discussions focused on inclusive economic development and strategies to encourage investment in Bihar. Manjhi also shared suggestions relating to industrial development and entrepreneurship.
Push for Expansion of Textile Sector
In a separate meeting with Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, the Bihar minister discussed plans to expand the state’s textile industry and attract fresh investment.
The discussions centred on generating local employment, strengthening industry-led economic activity and promoting Bihar’s traditional handloom and handicraft sectors at the national level.
The two leaders also explored ways to enhance recognition for the state’s artisans and traditional craft industries.

Defence Corridor Proposal Raised
Shreyasi Singh also met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, where discussions covered youth empowerment, industrial development and public welfare.
A key focus of the meeting was the possibility of establishing a Defence Corridor and a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) facility in Bihar. The proposal is aimed at encouraging defence-sector manufacturing and creating employment opportunities linked to advanced industries.
Proposals for New Industrial and Craft Clusters
During her meetings, Singh presented several proposals intended to strengthen Bihar’s industrial and traditional sectors.
The proposals included:
- Establishment of two Mega Textile Parks in Bihar
- Development of a Silk Tourism Cluster
- Creation of Handloom and Handicraft Clusters
- Establishment of a National Institute for Handicrafts, Textiles and Innovation
- Development of Sports-Tech and Agro-Tech Clusters
- Expansion of the Industrial Park in Begusarai
She also proposed the establishment of four new industrial parks under the state’s “Bhavya” scheme, which aims to promote industrial investment, skill development and large-scale job creation.
‘New Impetus to Industrial Development’
Shreyasi Singh said that support from the Union government would help expand investment, employment opportunities and economic activity across Bihar.
She added that the Bihar government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, was working to strengthen industrial development, create jobs for young people and enhance the state’s manufacturing and investment landscape.
