Muzaffarpur: A special pilgrimage train tracing sites associated with the Ramayana will make a brief halt in Muzaffarpur on Friday night, as part of a 17-day journey covering key religious destinations across India.
The Shri Ramayana Yatra Tour Special, introduced following public demand, departed from Delhi’s Safdarjung station on March 30 and is facilitating travel for devotees, particularly from north Bihar, to prominent sacred locations linked to the epic.
Travelling via Sitamarhi – widely regarded as the birthplace of Sita – the train reached the town on Thursday morning, where passengers are scheduled to spend two days visiting mythologically significant sites, including Punoura Dham.
The train is expected to arrive at Muzaffarpur Junction at approximately 10.45pm on Friday and will halt for 30 minutes. After a scheduled engine reversal, it will depart at 11.15pm towards Patliputra and Buxar.
Operated with a Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC rake, the 14-coach train offers first, second and third AC accommodation, along with two dining cars to cater to passengers during the journey.
Over the course of the journey, passengers will visit major pilgrimage centres including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Nashik, Hampi and Rameswaram, before the tour concludes in Delhi on April 15.
Railway authorities have instructed officials in the Sonepur and Samastipur divisions to remain on alert for the duration of the train’s passage, with additional arrangements in place to ensure passenger safety and convenience.
