Patna : Former IPS officer Shivdeep Lande, popularly known as “Singham” in Bihar, has formally launched a political party called Hind Sena and announced plans to contest all 243 seats in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
Speaking at a press conference in Patna on Tuesday, Lande, who carved a public image as a tough and upright officer, said, “Our party will fight against corruption, unemployment, and the pressing issues of Bihar. Hind Sena is here to transform the state.”
‘People want change’
Shivdeep Lande said that his decision to enter politics was spurred by the dire conditions he witnessed while visiting rural areas across Bihar. “In Jamui and Rohtas, villagers are still walking 30 to 40 kilometers just to fetch water. Even after 75 years of independence, basic necessities remain a struggle. Wherever I went, I sensed a change in people’s thinking. They are ready for something new,” he said. Shivdeep added that while he received offers from multiple political parties—including suggestions that he could be nominated to the Rajya Sabha or even projected as a chief ministerial face—he chose to chart his own course. “I want to give Bihar a new option, a fresh chance,” he said.
A khaki symbol and three pillars
Unveiling the party’s symbol, Lande said it features three signs on a khaki background—representing equality, justice, and service.
“Equality means every citizen, regardless of caste, religion, or class, deserves the same opportunity. Justice must be accessible to all without bias. And service is the core purpose of politics—to uplift and support people,” he explained.
Shivdeep has taken up the role of president of the Hind Sena, which he said was officially formed on 7 April. The party aims to field candidates in every constituency in the state, although Shivdeep did not clarify which seat he himself would contest from.
Youth, migration, and unemployment on agenda
With Bihar’s unemployment crisis high on his agenda, Shivdeep Lande pointed to the plight of over 60 lakh educated youth who, he said, were “roaming with degrees in hand” but without jobs. He also cited recurring issues like paper leaks and large-scale migration from the state in search of work.
“We are building a movement, not just a party,” he said. “I appeal to the youth—join us. You are the force that can change Bihar.”
Concluding his address, Shivdeep said, “Now I will stay in Bihar and fight for the rights of the people of Bihar.”
