Siwan: A man identified as Sunil Kumar, accused in multiple criminal cases, sustained a bullet injury during what police described as an encounter in Siwan’s Laxmipur area. However, Kumar has alleged that the police shot him while he was in custody and being escorted to his home.
The incident took place during a joint operation by officers from the Nagar police station and Bihar’s Special Task Force (STF). Kumar was arrested on Saturday by Nagar police station in-charge Raju Kumar, reportedly in connection with an alleged murder plot. While police claim they apprehended him during an encounter, Kumar contests that version.
Speaking to the media from his hospital bed, Kumar admitted to having previous charges against him, including theft, but denied involvement in any murder conspiracy. He alleged that on Sunday morning, he was taken to his residence by the police, including STF in-charge Vinod Kumar, under the pretext of investigation, where he was then shot in the leg.
He further claimed that after the shooting, the police took him to the hospital for treatment. “The allegation against me is false. I was taken to my home, and they shot me there,” Kumar told reporters.
