Siwan: The semi-naked body of an 18-year-old girl was discovered on Thursday morning in a pigeon pea field in Bariyarpur village, under the jurisdiction of Pachrukhi police station. Relatives of the girl rushed to the scene, weeping loudly as news of the death spread through the village.
Police confirmed that the body was recovered and sent to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Station House Officer Pramod Kumar said that the body would be returned to the family after the post-mortem, and that an Armed Forces Scientific Laboratory (AFSL) team had also arrived to collect forensic evidence.
Investigators revealed that the girl’s clothing and slippers had been found the previous day in a neighbouring village, Gopalpur, suggesting the possibility that she was killed elsewhere before her body was dumped in Bariyarpur.
According to villagers, women who went to the fields early morning discovered the body. The girl’s grandmother stated that she had filed a missing person complaint on November 25, noting that her granddaughter had left home that afternoon to relieve herself but did not return.
The family alleges that police inaction contributed to the tragedy. In their complaint, they have named two local men, Takla and Uttam Singh, as suspects. Residents have raised concerns about police efficiency and the handling of the case.
Authorities have pledged to pursue the investigation based on the post-mortem report and forensic findings. The case remains under active investigation.
